Based in Edinburgh, Ellei Home is an online boutique that specializes in timeless homewares made from natural materials. Known for their thoughtful curation and holistic approach to homemaking, Ellei Home not only offers a wide range of home goods but also rich editorial content that includes in-depth explorations of design philosophy and insights on slow living.
We worked with founder Nina Plummer to create a logo that honors the historical resonance of their studio space, which is located on the first floor of a former church congregational hall and offices built for the United Presbyterian Church in 1878. The angel motif is inspired by the intricate plasterwork found in the cornice and the oval cartouche is derived from a commonly used shape in heraldry to display the coat of arms of women.
Once the logo and branding system were completed, we built a website that visually aligns with the studio’s late 19th century Renaissance style architecture. We used a tightly curated typographic system inspired by vintage type setting and an understated color palette to showcase Nina’s photography. Our primary objective was to create an online storefront and brand presence that feels as timeless and historically resonant as Ellei Home’s collections.
